Wondering

Postby Geoff » Mon Mar 05, 2012 10:21 pm

As you can see, we can have sub forums, but I am wondering if this is just a nuisance. We could have many of these, if its useful, otherwise, it may prove easier to post "higher up". As a moderator I can move posts after they are created, so this decision can be changed later on.

Hi Geoff,
In my experience, it's cleaner to have new topics posted on the main pages, then "archived" away into categorized sub-forums when the thread is complete or dies. Makes it easy to find new posts and topics (main board), and easy to do research (sub boards).

That is a bit more work on your end, though. :D

Dear James,

I am not sure where you have seen moderators "splitting" posts, because on a busy board that is far from practical, never mind destroying the natural flow of the conversations. No I was suggesting that the "structure" was to establish the right place for each thread, in some layout thats sensible. I am happy to merge identical threads, or split those that diverge. But I dont plan to muck about with them normally.

love,
Geoff
